Would like to start conversational groups in french

Hi, I already have a part time job but am strongly thinking of adding some income to the household as it is becoming very hard. I was born in France and was educated there until my first year at university. Met my british hubby that year and decided to finish my studies in England. I have a french baccalaureate with mention tres bien (A star I would think) and am a very friendly person. However, I am a scientist and have no diploma in teaching. A lot of people around me told me that I should organise conversational groups in French but I have no idea how I should get started, how much I should charge to start with and if I would be allowed to do it. Has anyone got any experience? If not, just for interest, would this be of any interest to you and what would you expect from me if you were to join? Any suggestion would be welcome!!

No experience, but I'd be interested in something like this. I'd probably be willing to pay £5-10 for an hour as part of a group of other people. Including a glass of wine might be a nice touch if an evening session... You'd probably need to pick a topic - current affairs, or show a clip of a film at the beginning or something. I think success might depend on the mix you had in the group though - would work best if everyone was at roughly the same level of fluency. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply... Due to kids being with me I would only be able to do it in the morning. Was thinking of coffee /tea in a coffee shop. Good idea for the film but might be hard in the coffee shop... Any other idea?? Thanks

Probably less appealing then - a lot of people either work or look after kids during the day, so you'd have a smaller pool of potential clients. Not sure a coffee shop is a great idea - I think it would be a bit odd charging people to meet up in a coffee shop! Also you'd almost certainly need the permission of the manager.

I would suggest you look into becoming a La Jolie Ronde Tutor.
Check on their website to see if they are looking for any in your area.
I do it twice a week and I enjoy it. It's quite easy too as the area coordinator organises it all and I just deliver the lessons.

Good points banana, but at the moment it is hard to handle it with young kids. Happy green, I know what you mean, the only thing is that I do not want to teach, just have conversation. is there a lot of work involved??

I'm not sure people would pay just for conversation.
I teach lunch clubs at a primary school. I do 2 lunchtimes a week but I could do more if I wanted to.
As I'm a tutor not a franchisee I just turn up and teach so it's not a lot of work. Doesn't pay incredibly well , I do it to keep my French up. It's a hobby I get paid for really

Would you mind me asking how much you get paid? ( you don't have to tell me)... Are you native French? My friend would really love to converse with me in French only and proposed to ask her friends from her French class to gather at hers over coffee/ cakes to converse... That will be free trial for a start... Was thinking of discussing about their topic of interest...
