ive just come back from maternity leave and my employer told me he'd pay me for my unused holidays on my next wage (i only work 20 hours a week and dont pay tax/NI as i earn too little) so hes paid me my wage plus holiday today and ive been taxed nearly £140!!! Will i get this back as i dont normally earn enough to pay tax and if i can how do i claim it back?

NI you won't get back as this is based on a weekly limit. Tax you might but normally payroll would 'know' your expected annual earnings so wouldn't over tax iykwim but maybe not if you hours / earnings are irregular. Maybe worth checking out your tax code I think the current normal code is 994L - although yours could be very different depending on circumstances! It is possible you have been put on emergency code but you shouldn't have been if returning to same & only employer.

Are you leaving employment? If not, your employer shouldn't be paying you your holiday entitlement, you should be taking it as time off.
