I'm due back to work in 2 weeks, after maternity leave (working part time.) My DS is 5 and DD is 8 months.

I have seen a job advertised at a local school (office) which is full time, but I am in a real pickle to whether to apply for it.

The main thing is one of the requirements (essential) is that the applicant has GCSE A-C I'm Maths. Sadly I'm not he worlds greatest mathematician and don't have this grade. Maths really is not my strong point.

Should I still apply for the job and really sell myself on my strong points or will they just toss my application in the bin as I've not met this requirement.

It's a long time since I've applied for a new job.

Thank you

I'd generally say that it's always worth applying even if you don't meet all criteria.

However .. I imagine that not having a Grade C in maths is a pretty big stumbling book for a school office job. Also, they tend to be pretty highly sought after, so they may well have their pick of good applicants.

Have you thought about evening classes/distance learning? I think you may find not having a maths qualification a bar to lots of jobs (depending on what sort of area you want to work in obviously).
