Ive just posted a thread accidently on the OMG section of this board. Will paste it:
Hi, has anyone worked for Virgin Vie or similar companies? someone says they do it, but when i looked it up on their website it says you need to send 2 checks off for the starter kits, about £60 each. You then get the money back if you sell over £500 worth of products in 2 months, which I couldn't!
Can anyone recommend anything that wont break the bank!!

I did VV for a while once. Unless you are planning to make a career out of it it works out expensive as you then need to stock up on their limited ranges etc.etc. Also I thought it would be easy but actually discovered I was crap at sales. Oh and they also expect you to find your own way to sales meetings in your spare time to clap for other people who have sold more.
However having said that if you are good at it and work up to area manager there did seem to be more profit in it.

Hi vix1, I was looking for something to do from home, working round my kids and looked into Virgin Vie. I decided it wasn't for me for quite a few reasons - but i also came across a company called Mini IQ while I was looking and have joined them as an associate. One of the main reasons I joined Mini IQ was that there was no targets - so no pressure. Mini IQ sell Educational Books, toys & games for children 0-12. I started in September last year while I was still working to make sure I could make a go of it, and I left my job in April. I haven't replaced my salary (yet!!!) but am bringing in some money and am confident that my business will grow. I have started to build a small team and I am loving it. I work the hours I want to and fit it in around my kids. If you are interested CAT me and I can give you some more info.

One of the reasons I chose Mini IQ over Virgin Vie, Body shop etc was the product range. Mini IQ's has a fantastic range of children?s educational books, toys and games for ages 0-12 years. Our products are of the highest quality and are all assessed by educationalists and selected to be fun, interactive and stimulating to a child?s development.

The stuff really sells itself basically. You show me a parent who doesn't want to buy their child books and toys that they will learn from. I am not a "salesperson" but with Mini IQ I really don't need to be.

Have you looked at Usborne childrens? What you earn does depends how much time you put in but you can sell to schools, nurseries, playgroups as well as hosting parties and attending events, you get 24-28% commision straight away rising to 43% as your business grows. There are no sales targets, you can even take school holidays off completely, it is just so flexable.
This month is 1/2 price joining fee (£19) and you get £100 worth of stock which you keep even if you never sell another book, so in my opinion you really have nothing to loose. I love having my own business, earning money and doing something more interesting than ironing or nappies. . If you would like more information take a look at my website www.usborne4u.co.uk. Our team is spread all across the country and we have an-online forum with over 50 members which offers guidence, support and things to download. It's a great time to join

Hi ya,
Just read your message and i can tell you more about Virgin Vie.
Yes your right you do have to do 500 sales in 2 months after you register but the party average is about 250 even higher now at this time of year and higher as you are nearing christams, So its very easy to do. If you dont manage it for what ever reason you can either pay aextra for the kit or you can return it. They have a special joining offer on at the moment for people just joining up to the Christmas period. E mail me for info Ros x
