Myself and DH own a set of good quality ride ons and we want to hire them out locally for parties. This is a pocket money venture for me as I work two days a week and we have no money for luxuries.
Can you help me with the set up?
Do I need to buy insurence incase a child hurts themselves using them? ( like you would for a bouncy castle?)
How is a small business like this registered with HM Revenue and Customs?
Any help which be very much appreciated.

You need to register with HMRC as self employed so you can do your self assessment each year: here are the details.

You will absolutely definitely need insurance! Probably best to speak to an insurance broker to make sure you're getting the right cover, but you'd need public liability insurance covering that type of children's activity.

What kind of ride-ons do you have?

They are swing cars - we bought a set as we had the capital at the time and we realised we'd end up using them at many parties as we have two small children. Friends often ask to borrow them so we know they are popular.

Thank you for replying - I've tried to get some advice with this but found it difficult to get anyone to reccomend an insurence company. We do have a financial advisor so I'll ask him.
