How do i explain a Grievance and settlement agreement

Hi,

NC for obvious reasons.

I have recently been through a very painful grievance process due to discrimination due to pregnancy and maternity. I have received a settlement payment and am now unemployed.

I have 2 interviews next week.

How the heck do i explain what happened. Its obvious from my P45 that i have received a large payment. I also have an agreed reference.

However, i was with my employer for over 14 years. I was with my previous employer for a long time as well. In addition all my managers over the last 10 years have approached me to offer references. If i'm allowed ti explain it will be quite clear that i am not a bad employee, but due to a strange set of circumstances a discrimination took place. My ex employer is not a bad employer.

Help!

Do you have a compromise agreement? Check to see if it says that the working relationship ended "by mutual consent".

That's all you have to say really. If pressed you can explain that although you had X good years working there and still think highly of the employer, the working environment changed after your maternity leave and after working it through with HR and management you didn't feel you could continue to work there. No hard feelings either side and all your managers from last 10 years will vouch for you etc.
