Working in HR.

I hope I'm not being cheeky but can I ask those of you who work in HR what qualifications you have, and whether those qualifications are required for your job?

I'm interested because I have a Masters in HRM. I haven't worked in the field for some time but I'm wondering if I should do something with it.

Thanks.

I have a Masters in HRM, a post-grad cert in Coaching and am a Fellow of the CIPD - but experience is really what counts IMO. If you want to get back into the profession, and I don't know what level you left at, then your higher degree will be helpful but won't open doors automatically.

Same as icetip here. BUT if you have been out of professional for a while think long and hard - in my opinion it has changed and lots of HR jobs are quite hideous ATM.....

Sorry, OP, didn't mean to put you off by being negative - I'm depressed ATM. There are lots of lovely jobs and lovely people in HR - maybe join some LinkedIn groups and ask for advice there? Or go along to one of your local CIPD branch events? Usually lots of helpful people.

Thanks all. My experience has been mainly in training and development, and I've had some lecturing/ training work off the back of this. I'd like to go back into lecturing really-once I've upskilled/ retrained- I know I'm years out of date.

Is there any training you'd recommend? I'm fairly flexible these days. I was thinking perhaps employment law?

Thts is very true even if you have qualifications you wont be able to make it in case you dont have experince and I wonder how does people gather experince in midlifes. For graduates its fine but for mothers who want to start fresh what to do ? Voluntary job also is not tht great becoz it does count so much on CV

Regards
