Holiday pay

Hi - am working 30 hours per week (not zero hours but "normal" employment contract so I get an annual leave entitlement... yay!!). I work regular hours and days per week. Weekdays are at basic minimum wage but Sundays are paid at a higher rate. My day to work is a Sunday so I get more pay for that day.

My question (for the brainy ones) is: when I take a Sunday off as annual leave do I get the paid holiday at the enhanced rate. I think I should but my husband says that as I am not actually "working" the shift I will probably get paid at basic minimum like the rest of my hours that week. My contract does not say so I am puzzled.

You should get paid whatever you would have been paid for the day you are taking off.

You are on a regular contract with regular hours so presumably get paid the same each month. The idea is you take x amount of holiday a year but still get paid the same. Based on your husband's view, every time you take a Sunday off in a month, you'd have to have your pay docked.

as ex nhs I would say no. Because unsocial hours pay is for the inconvenience of actually working the unsocial hours.
We always got normal pay for holidays taken on a weekend.
If your days vary you may just be scheduled for Sunday as a day off and the other days as annual leave anyway?

Thanks for responding.

No such luck for having a Sunday off by happy coincidence! I am rota'd on every Sunday so would need to take it as annual leave. I could do with a Sunday off soon as I am absolutely kn**kered! I will have to wait and see what I am paid when I take my first Sunday as annual leave in January. I will be putting "annual leave" against the Sunday hours on that week's rota sheet and keeping my fingers crossed as it is an extra couple of pounds per hour more.

If anyone else has had the experience of this type of rota (different pay for different days of working) feel free to comment!

It depends, as to what the call the extra.
Sundays equal 1.5 x pay = yes
Sunday = pay with antisocial hours = no.

Also NHS and in our board you get paid whatever you would have been paid had you been at work, so you would get any enhancements you would have gotten. I think this has only recently been introduced, is being back dated and is causing lots of confusion
