Hi, my contract states 4 weeks notice. I'm miserable. I've got a second interview and if I get offered the job, I would like to start ASAP - maybe give a week's notice.

What is the worst that can happen legally/financially?

Worst case scenario? They might sue you for breach of contract, but that's very unlikely to be worth their while. More likely is that they'll give you a bad reference, which may impact on this new job and future new jobs.

Is it really worth it for the sake of 3 weeks? Might your employer be prepared to let you go early?

Four weeks notice is totally normal though and your new potential job will expect that you can't start right away. Plus they may need to wait for references, occupational health, DBS check if relevant etc.

Ok so I will work the notice - I don't want to cause an issue -Thank you.
My colleagues are not going to like it that I'm going - they will have to pick up my work and the atmosphere is going to be awful. I'm looking to leave because of the situation as it is - my boss is gas lighting me and turning my colleagues against me - i sound mad, but it is true. I suppose I will have light at the end of the tunnel if I get this job.
