I gained an ordinary degree in Podiatry (Chiropody) in 1991 (that was a new thing at the time as had been three year diploma course up until then and no honours degrees out there)and within 2-3 years realised I had made a mistake - I had been offered a place on a BEd course (KS2) and turned it down to do the Podiatry course. I then decided to start an MA course in Health Studies to try and get into lecturing to turn things around but fell pregnant with DD1 so only completed the first year. I went back to Podiatry after each of my children but with them now age 18,15 and 8 I am wondering if now is the time to retrain. I have been reading that ordinary degrees won't be considered for PGCE courses but will my Masters level credits counter this in any way ? Should I just try and get lots of school experience or am I just not going to get on a PGCE course ? Am I too old? I am a Brownie leader too so have experience working with KS2 age children .

Definitely not too old. Some actual classroom time will stand you in better stead than just Brownies. My only concern is whether your degree would be considered to be in a suitable subject, and I doubt the Masters will negate that.

My degree contained a lot of biology/science but I don't know if that will be classed as sufficiently relevant ??

Not sure in that snowy. My friend did a textiles degree and wanted to specialise in art and they wouldn't accept that, but science be OK. might
