What are your 3 aims in your business next year?

Was just thinking about next year. I (marketing freelancer) will be getting back to it after mat leave. I was thinking I need to identify 3 aims for the business.

  1. Be brave enough to focus on my niche market. Have dabbled in SME clients but they don't work as well as my niche sector. So that means business development which scares me but the end results will be worth it.

  2. Produce more content. I want to blog twice a week. Content brings so many benefits (profile, sharing, demonstrating expertise).

  3. Try to work less but earn more. Again be brave enough to stick to my top day rate. I have a target of 50 days at my top day rate.

Anyone else when to share what they want to achieve?

Great thread, its nice to see other peoples plans.

My aims for 2015 are:

1- Improve the website. It is basic, has all of the information a potential client would need, but I know it can look better.

2- Advertise more offline. Although a lot of my clients get our info from our website, I would like to also try out the old fashioned 'flyers in shop windows' approach too.

3- Get more clients AND staff . The business is ticking along nicely at the moment, with regular clients and a happy employee, but I want to shake things up a bit, add more clients and more employees. Sounds quite basic, I know, but its easy to stay in a comfortable place.

Just stumbled on this and my own post from a year ago. Sobering indeed.

Need new goals for 2015 for sure. No good ideas ever had on 2.5 hours sleep though! DS I'm looking at you

Wonderful thread, something to look back at and see if goals were achieved!

My three for this year:

  1. Consolidate all the lessons I have learned during growth last year to make us a tighter ship margin-wise.
  1. Burst through the VAT threshold with profit margins intact.
  1. Double our client base (we trebled it last year but with the VAT thing looming I want a more manageable pace our growth) and hire around 6 more staff to accommodate these (if we safely navigate 2).
