I've just (!) come back from mat leave and I have been selected for possible redundancy (although both sides know I am going). I requested the selection scores/criteria and I was surprised to see I scored low on the 'Disciplinary section' because I have a PIP in place. (I had to google to find out what this is!). The commentary box then refers to my personal development plan.

I think the company have pulled a fast one on me here..... The entire office before I even left on mat leave was encouraged to put in place their own informal 'personal development plan' or PDP to run alongside their career plan and goals and there was even workshops as to how to create such a plan.

Just before returning from mat leave, I was asked if I wanted to put a PDP in place and wanting to make a good start (i raise a grievance whilst on mat leave due to issues with the team leader...long story....) I said yes and was sent a template which I then drafted MYSELF!!! This now appears to have worked against me and is now considered a PIP?!?! WTF?

Can they do this? Surely I need to know that it is actually a PIP?

Contact them and say there seems to have been a mistake and you would like to be rescored. There have been no concerns raised about your performance or behaviour and your disciplinary record is clean and therefore your score should be perfect in that area. You don't have a PIP, you have a personal development plan which you voluntarily put in place, not as a result of any concerns being raised about your performance.

Call your union first.
Sounds like they are trying to screw you.

Agree with Flowery. Ask for a re score. If there is a PIP in place it's entirely unreasonable as you weren't aware! If you can, dig the policies out as your reference point

Personal development plans are for everyone, not just for people with performance problems. They're great for high performers as well.

I have sent a quick email to HR challenging this as suggested. I now wait to hear back from them....
