Travel time to mandatory training day?

Hoping someone can advise as I can't find an answer myself!

I am due to go on a mandatory training day this week which is held in London. I love and work about 2 hrs by train from London.
My company has paid for the train tickets, but Thai still means I will have about 5 hrs extra travel time that day, I'll be leaving my house at about 7:30am and won't get home until close to 9pm.
I normally leave my house at 9:30 an get home about 6:30 so a big difference!

Is my company supposed to pay me overtime for this extra time? Or give me time off in lieu?
At the moment they are saying I get nothing except them paying my travel expenses but I think this seems unfair, especially as I am 13 weeks pregnant, I am going to be absolutely exhausted by the end of the day.

Many thanks!

Check your company policy. I am entitled to OT or TOIL, at my Directors discretion? Also entitled to an evening meal I can claim back (often a sandwich from the station!) and a taxi from the station/airport if it's after 8pm?

No company policy at all, it's so rubbish!

What additional costs are you incurring? Do you have childcare costs you don't normally have to pay, etc?

No extra costs other than I will need to get a taxi home from station as will be dark and I wouldn't walk it (dodgy area)

I would ask them to pay for the taxi and also ask if you can come in late the following day as you will be more exhausted than other staff due to your pregnancy.

Unless there is some backstory here, I really would not make an issue of this one day. I don't know if you already have children (I suspect not) but during your pregnancy there will be many times when you may need time off, to come in late because of tiredness, to take more frequent breaks etc. If you make an issue out of wanting to be paid for this day, don't be surprised if they start trying to claw back time from you, particularly if you come back after having the baby, and inevitably end up with various child-related emergencies.

There is a huge backstory and it boils down to the fact I will not give them a second more of my time than I absolutely have to as part of my job.
Thanks or all the advice I will speak to HR
