Hi I'm new on site. Please help me.. I got verbal warning from my school where I work, that I was non compliance to my deputy. We were having discussion. What to do.. I'm so upset and feel depressed.

Was it a fair warning? Did it go through proper disciplinary procedures? Does it go on your record? If so, does it stay there? (I think verbals get removed from ours after a certain amount of time, if there are no further incidents.)

I'd write down everything about the event as I remembered it. But if it's a fair call, then you just have to live with it. Difficult to say without more details.

What EBearhug said. Impossible to advise you what to do without knowing whether the warning was fair, how long you've been working there, whether proper procedure was followed and what you want to get out of the situation.

It was general discussion between me and my deputy. So I was suggesting to use school transport rather then going by walk, and take responsblity of all children. It was more safer to go by bus then walk. But after discussion when time came we did go by walk. Then all of sudden I got verbal warning letter that I was non compliance to deputy. When my point is I did arrange to go by walk, despite that why I got verbal warning.
I'm really upset for this.

I don't know what it means to be "non-compliance" to someone tbh.

Regardless of that, if you just got a letter out of the blue with no disciplinary hearing/right to be accompanied etc, they didn't follow the required procedure to give a formal warning.

How long have you worked there? Did they give you the right to appeal the warning in the letter?

Today I had meeting I asked my deputy how I was non- compliance to your instruction. So she said I tried to not listen to them. I have requested to withdraw the warning letter, let's see what happens.
Yes I can appeal within 5 days.

Thank you for your reply x

Your explanation is not very clear. Who was the more senior person here? You or the person you refer to as a deputy? If the person is your deputy it is not clear why they over-ruled you? If you mean this person is e.g. a deputy head and you report to them, then it is still not clear why you got a warning if everyone walked which is what the deputy wanted?

Can you explain a bit more? Have you received the warning because there was a discussion about transport for a trip, you suggested going by bus, you were over-ruled and pupils walked, now the deputy (Head?) is saying that the transport arrangements were none of your business and you should not have been involved in the discussion?

Yes this is a bit unclear. Your deputy would be junior to you and not in a position to give you any instructions.

If you don't mean she is your deputy and she is in fact entitled to give you instructions I would suggest appealing the warning on the following grounds:

  1. You followed the instruction to walk as requested.
  1. No proper disciplinary procedure has been followed in giving you this warning, you have not been given the opportunity to put across your side at a disciplinary hearing and have not been given the opportunity to be accompanied by a colleague or trade union representative as is your right.

Well I can't give you all details for confidentiality.. That's why I'm telling you in small pieces.. But I had meeting again today and now I have ended up this issue. Now it will be cleared in few month..
But I really thankful to flowery and unexpected for your support.. I'm glad I joined this website..
God bless you both.. Xxx
