How much notice should you have of a redundancy consultation meeting please and should this be verbal or in writing?

TIA

I don't know about the consultation meetings - but I think in the UK, I htink the company is duty bound to give you 100 days notice that your job is under threat. Though I was surprised - we lost 6 staff - 3 in the uK and they seemed to go fairly quick, though I don't know if that was a mutual agreement between them and the workers. I got 100 days in a previous role and my husband I believe was about 3 months, he tried another job in the company but realised the job wasn't for him and took the redundancy money thank you very much. Luckily he walked straight into another job so the money was a bonus.

It depends how many people are likely to be made redundant. If it's only one or a few, then consultation needs to be "reasonable", which would include being given reasonable notice of a meeting.

Is it large scale redundancies? What is the problem exactly- are you unable to attend a proposed consultation meeting?

Don't want to go into too much detail but group consultation had finished and we have gone from at risk to the proposal is going ahead

1st individual consultations are happening but I haven't officially been told

Just wondering if 48hrs written notice is a legal requirement or just best practise

When I have been the manager doing the redundancies in the past we have followed a very strict timeline including notice of meetings

Had meeting, was told I haven't met the selection criteria for new role, but I haven't seen the selection criteria?

Can you get some legal advice?

I sat as a witness for my friend during his consolation. He was given the opportunity to explain why he thought his job should still exist, and also what other jobs he could interview for, or transfer to within the company.

It was all a set up,as the jobs were way below his pay scale but he had his official say in the matter.

I find it quite uncomfortable that you aren't given more detail about the criteria, or a description of the jobs on offer following restructure.

Sorry I meant consultation, not consulation.

Hope you're ok op.

Were the selection criteria to be used for new roles consulted on and agreed as part of the group consultation?

17leftfeet · 12/11/2013 13:48

The selection criteria was discussed at group consultation but is all behaviours based so difficult to quantify

I've been told I can't have my results until my 2nd individual consultation which will also be my last consultation

We also had to include mobility and flexibility but this wasn't part of the selection criteria -so why was it on the form?
