Tax on two (very) part time jobs..

I have been working for 8 hours a week since August after claiming JSA for a couple of months after my maternity allowance finished at the beginning of May whilst I managed to find a job. I have just been offered another job which I'm going to be working 3 hours a week in November, and then 3 hours a week Jan - April. My total income from both jobs, and my JSA & MA will be under the personal allowance for 13/14.

Am wondering if there is anyone out there that might shed some light on the tax implications as I remember when I was a student there were horror stories about being taxed immense amounts at the second job. I have looked online (got directed to the usual forums and suchlike where making head or tail is like unravelling medusa's snakes) and checked out HMRC which is a bit useless.

I wonder,
a) whether my MA & JSA counts towards income for tax purposes from April - August
b) Do I need to inform both employers that I have two jobs?
c) Do I need to inform the tax office that I have two jobs in order for the right tax code to be assigned?
d) If the total amounts come under my personal allowance, will I get a tax rebate at the end of the financial year?

Thanks muchly Smile

When you start your second job you complete form P46. You then contact the tax office and tell them you have two jobs and how much you expect to earn in each job, and ask them to split your personal allowance between the two.

Your MA & JSA are taxable and should already have been accounted for in your tax code for the job you started in August (if not, make sure you mention this).

If all else fails yes you will get your tax back at the end of the year.
