If you used to be a nurse, what do you do now?

Didn't renew my nmc registration last year as I didn't work enough hours to do so. DS2 just turned 2, so I guess I need to think about going back to work, or just do something. Thinking of going back to work as a nurse leaves me cold... A&E/occ health background, but just the thought of the paperwork, regulation, politics, all the crap that comes with the job and keeps you away from the people you're meant to care for... Anyway, any nurses out there who went on to do something else? It's the only thing I've ever done work-wise, I feel a bit panicky! Please inspire me!

Hiya.
Many colleagues who have left clinical practice have side stepped.
Stroke network, home care companies, medical device selling/ clinical nurse trainers.
I'm looking at the 111 service currently.
There is stuff out there.

Hi gandalfs , no useful advice but wanted to say that I'm in the same position as you - almost. Am a nhs allied health prof, and ds is 2.5; the thought of returning to previous work terrifies me. NHS is dire to work for at the moment, stress, endless paperwork, too high a caseload .... Need some positive vibes to think of other things.
