What do I say about leaving a past job when i was forced out

I started a job last year after some time off ( as I was made redundant from my old job when I was 5 weeks pregnant with ds2) at interview they said they expect me to take 6 months to get back into the swing of things, but when i started I was expected to just get on with things with little support, they extended my probation period (to cover the busiest time of year). It was clear they would ask me to leave after the extended probation, so I handed in my notice.

I have had some time off with the kids and started a self employed tempoary role with a firm I have worked for previously.

Today I have seen a permanent job advertised and want to update my CV and apply. However what do I say is the reason for leaving the job that i resigned from? I was thinking of saying it was temporary as I worked for 4 months covering their busy period so the timeing would make sence to a future employer.

If I dont say its tempoary how do i say it didnt work out?

My confidence is a bit shot after being made redundant and then the other job obviously thinking I wasn't good enough.

I had a similar job. Dumped with no training and expected just to get on with it, which was particularly irritating as it was a 'trainee' post. I usually say I left to concentrate on pressing family commitments. i.e. be a SAHM.

I've been asked about it at an interview at which point I made some noises about leaving at the end of my probationary period as I thought the company and I weren't a good match. Fortunately the company was restructured almost out of existence a month after I left so to a disinterested observer it looks like I saw which way the wind was blowing and got the hell out while I could.

I don't mention reasons for leaving on my CV - I list the jobs I have done and the skills and experience from those jobs because that's the information which is most likely to get me an interview. If asked at interview, just say you were spending time with your family and then self-employed.
