I feel my work are being sneaky

Well i was due to be promoted and have my salary revised this month (discussed in a review in march) and on paper) in August i decided to ask my boss when my
Salary was being reviewed and assumed i wod be in my new position. (New position is only a few additional duties which have been passed to me slowly since March)
So anyway, she said no, we would discuss all this after my maternity leave. Nothing like keeping me informed! I had told them i was pregnat in May, doing the honest thing (silly)

Next they ask me to write up job description (u think they would know it) so i did, my post was advertised internally and 1 person applied for it. I was told i would be party to interview and any discussions about what would be happening with my role.

I have the day off today, booked off over a week ago, turns out the girl is being interviewed today... I havent been told this by my boss or groul manager, i had overheard it and then asked another colleague and they had confirmed it.

I just feel really cr*p and under valued! Is this the right behaviour in a workplace? Seceret service!

Sorry I can't offer any advice on this one - but I understand you are feeling excluded. I don't think employers are aware of how difficult it is, going off on maternity leave and handing your job over to someone else for a while.

It isn't always the norm to be included in the interview process for your maternity replacement but it is nice of them to do so. Legally they haven't done anything wrong but they should consider their actions and how it may affect you during pregnancy.

I hope you manage to get it sorted.

I know it's hard sometimes to confront your bosses, especially during a time when you may be feeling emotionally charged but they best thing to do is ask then outright!

I might be wrong (not a HR expect) but I would have thought postponing planned salary and role discussions due to pregnancy is sex discrimination?

Sorry to hear they are keeping you out of mat leave cover recruitment. Some co's seem to just do it like that.

It sounds like you are about to be shafted.

Nothing especially wrong with the recruitment process but they can't delay a promised promotion and salary review because of pregnancy so focus on that.
