Has anyone used a logo designer?

I really need a logo, I know exactly what I want, what I seem to lack is the ability to make it look good myself. I have been looking at websites for hours and I'm getting nowhere. Can someone please put me out of my misery recommend someone reasonably priced who won't try and sell me 5 million other products that I don't need. TIA.

I recommend 99designs.co.uk/. It's a site that crowd sources graphic design projects. You specify what you're looking for and designers bid for the project. You can tweak their proposals and then finally plump for the one you like best.

I used it for a project I work on and it worked out very well with a completitive price (2-3 hundred pounds for a logo).

wish i'd thought to ask on here for a logo! have one now though, it's actually really hard to get one that if memorable, would go with a trained human every time!

What size leaflet? Depends on how long it will take. A4 half fold, double sided is about £200.

You could contact your local college or Uni and see if any students (marketing design etc obv!) would like to take it on as a case study/practical experience.

When I was studying, a local art gallery did exactly this and I was able to create them a new logo etc and it helped swing me a job after graduation.

i have a half A4 one already (two on each page) but it need to be more striking would just need tweaking to make it more coherent!

also just noticed you are an online specialist. have wasted so much money so far on those 'set up already' websites! (1 &1) it's a learning curve!

Tee surely you are putting yourself out there and it's up to the op whether they like what you are offering.
Not sure why that means others can't suggest / recommend other people if they think they can offer a good deal without you getting shirty.

Unless y'all are offering your own design services? You're just being rude. I don't mind competition. I mind "Oh do it yourself! It takes no talent and no skill! Or better yet, post to this place where the people in 3rd world countries can bid 2p an hour!!!!"

It undermines those of us trying to make an actual living.

There is also that website fiverrrrr where each job costs $5. So it's not too much and worth a punt?

i will email you tee and show you what i have so far, need something that's eye catching but low budget at the moment as i'm just starting out. but a professional view would really be appreciated!

people it may seem easy to do yourself even with online 'help' but it really is a skill and art and needs to be kept to the professionals if you want your service to be noticed!

I'm sorry you feel hard done by tee, but a) I was trying to help the OP with a tried and tested professional service, not undercut a complete stranger whose work I've never seen and b) if you're cheaper and better than there's no issue and c) the site I recommended may be useful to others - or are you claiming exclusive

I'd also recommend looking at peopleperhour.com where you can look to see how much people charge for this service and reviews of what they've done before. Loads of designers on there.

Tee might be right for you, might not be, but it's fine surely to go and have a look at a mix of what's out there before deciding based on one forum thread?

Go to Startups.co.uk they are a business link start up company for small business, I had our company logo redesigned from www.smallbusinesslogos.co.uk/ they have packages for either just a logo design or all design stuff. Prices are great take a look.
They have loads of helpful tips on the site too as it's a business link site so it's geared to help small - medium business.
