Looking to get back in the workforce after 5 years with kids, what do you put on your profile for this time?

Thanks.

On CV I put 2002-2007: career break to raise children during which time I ran XYZ community projects and initiated ZYX projects in schools.
then continued to describe any voluntary work I'd done in similar terms to how I describe professional work

E.g. Treasurer for Little Bunnies playgroup. Responsibilities included weekly book-keeping, fundraising and overseeing day to day finances as well as planning and evaluating expenditure for expansion and development of this 60-strong community playgroup.

Just to show those five years weren't totally squandered on being up to the eyeballs in nappies, but in taking on responsible roles, raising cash for charity and volunteering generally.

You don't need to put anything if you dont' want - linked in just asks you to list your roles so i would just list professional work unless you feel you don't have enough or you have voluntary stuff you want to include, in which case just include that.

people on linked in are unlikely ime to check that each role finishes when the next one begins.

my linkedin overlapps all over the place with paid roles, voluntary roles and p/t study all beginning and finishing in the middle of each other rather than being strictly consecutive.

Very good question OP. I always feel deflated when I read answers like the one racingheart posted! What if you have not done any volunteering? No interest in volunteering, just had a nice time looking after your children and managing your home. You just didn't but you want to go back to work and you are perfectly capable of racing through the ranks again like you did when you were younger?
