No sure if this is the right place to put this thread.
I am a mother to 2 under 5 children. Working full time. In addition to this, I do English / Math
tuition for a good rate of £30 per hour ( this is done at home, so there . Is it crazy that I work fulltime and still take on extra work at home? The way I approach this is that the money I earn from extra tuition I pay for housework ? I get cleaning and ironing done. Because if I spend the time cleaning and ironing, then I better earn more money and pay for the cleaner. On the other hand, maybe it is better to spend more time with kids and not to give extra tuition till they reach 11 or so ? secondary school age? Please share your thoughts.

I work full time with two preschoolers and am trying to set up a small business part time.

It is difficult but my justifications are:
If my business takes off, I could do it full time, giving me a better work life balance, as I could choose my hours.
The money is useful, especially when we haven't had payrises in a few years.
It's good to have another string to my bow in case one of us looses our job.
I can turn down work
Children are with their daddy, so they aren't suffering.
The money I make is going towards giving my children a better future.

I think providing you and your family are happy with the set up, go for it. Similar to what I'm doing, I assume you can choose when you work and probably have quiet times, like the summer holidays.

I would say go for it, I work full time, have 4 children two of whom are 3 and 5 and I am also a non-executive director and on the board of a charity, my husband is also and on top his a parish councillor. None of those roles we do are paid and we still choose to do them!!!

I think it is all doable if you find the balance works for you and it doesn't get all too much.

If its something you want to do, do it.
If its something you need to do to make ends meet or similar, do it.
If you don't want to do it, and don't need to do it, then don't!
