Bonus calculation - part time/full time confusion!

It was announced today that all employees at my work would be receiving a 5% bonus based on their salary as at 30 September 2012.

My maternity leave finished on 27 Sept at which point I entered into a part time (2 days per week) contract. Prior to that I was full time. I then planned on taking 2 full weeks annual leave before returning to work on 14 October.

However because I had accrued so much holiday, my employers said they would pay me as a full time member of staff until my return to work date of 14 October, and then I would be paid part time from this date.

So based on this do you think my bonus should be based on my full time or part time salary?

I'm grateful for anything I get and I know I am probably just wishful thinking but thought it might be worth a shot!!

I think it will come down to the wording.

If they have specifically said 'salary' then I think it will be the 2 days per week figure (sorry).

If they have said 'earnings' then it will be the full-time salary.

But, I'm no expert, I'm just using logic.

I disagree. Your contract on the 30th Sept would have been a full time one. At least if I've understood your post correctly v

"My maternity leave finished on 27 Sept at which point I entered into a part time (2 days per week) contract."

My reading of that, is that the contract for part-time work started on the 28th September, but the OP was paid annual leave on top to take the earnings up to full time wage.

Do you have a contract variation with an effective date?

My part time contract started on 27 September, however an email I received from my office manager prior to that said 'I think it would be best if we paid you based on you being a full time member of staff until you return' and 'What I would propose is that we pay you 2 days pay in Sept based on your full time salary and then pay you in October based on fulltime until you return and then part time from the day you return'.

So based on the above quotes, I was being paid a full time salary as at 30 October, but officially on a part time contract.

30 September, not 30 October, sorry!!

Confusing myself even more now!!

Well, you really need to look at your contract. At my work you would've been on a full time contract and had annual leave for 3 days a week, but if you had a part time contract but had your annual leave paid on top then that is different.
