Can anyone help me find a typing job?? Or any job from home?!!

I can touch type very quickly and spell (quite) well.... I can work evenings and weekends, would prefer something without absolutely fixed hours (but I don't mind about that too much)...

I'll do anything really as long as it's from home... any help would be brilliant...

I've posted at quite tedious length (sorry) on your other thread, but work from home typing jobs are like hens' teeth and are very rarely available. Best thing is to set up on your own. Copious, lengthy and probably very dull details are on the other thread.
But good luck with it.

I may well do that BH am going to get DH to yay/nay later... he's so in charge

I was hoping there might be something easier kicking about !!

What do work at home jobs pay ?
My outfit has various odd jobs (not typing) that could be done by a home worker.

Our "outfit" are pimps, or more boringly recruitment.

We've got an event in a couple of months, and would like to invite a fww hundred of our closest personal friends...
The work would be to take the name/company list, look up telephone number, tell them what we're doing, if they want to come get their email.

I suppose it's pretty flexible which hours you do it, provided it's during normal working day, nor does it actually have to be done on any particualr day, just so long as it gets done.

anniebear · 01/05/2006 20:59

I sell Usborne Books, am quite enjoying it

(It isn't all working from home but the paper work, advertising and ordering is)

I can work when I want and I know lots of Organisers who take their children along to bookings with them (obviously depending on the child lol) so no child care is needed

expatinscotland · 01/05/2006 21:03

instead of a sex chatline, why not a pyschic hotline?

busybusybee · 01/05/2006 21:04

Domini Connor - Is that something anybody could apply to do as a work from home job?

FA - afaik envelope stuffing is not a good option
I have heard stories about people spending hours addressing envelopes, stuffing them and then being told they did it wrong......... Very often a scam
I wouldnt go there unless i was absolutely sure it was genuine!

anniebear · 01/05/2006 21:09

I get various amount of money

I did an event at a friends house and got £160 of orders, this gave me just under £40 for 2 hours work that evening and I got some free books also

Obviously some events you might get less than that and others much more!

A friend of mine got bookings at Tumble Tots for a week of different classes and got around £900 worth of orders!!

I'm going to some at the end of the month, hope I do as well!!!!

If you live in a university town you may be able to get some work proof-reading, basic editing, typing theses etc. I've done this for foreign PhD students. It can be quite time consuming though.

I started calling recruiters pimps somewhere in the mid 1980s when I was an IT contractor. Saw no reason to change the term once I became one :)

Most of our competitors style themselves as "Headhunters".

I didn't know that stuffing envelopes was typically a scam, doesn't shock me though.
On the other hand quality control is an issue for people you don't supervise.
Never done this sort of thing before, and haven't quite yet worked out the best method.

Any ideas ?
