Does anyone have Doula experience, either is one or used one? Can you tell me about your experience? I am considering training to become a doula when I finish my maternity leave.

she still posts here...occasionally only now Sad

Pupuce trains people to become doulas and has put me onto two trainees I'll be meeting shortly to choose one (due Aug). Hopefully she'll see your thread title and you can get in touch. I'll try to keep an eye on this thread and if nothing happens I'll email her to let her know you were asking.

THANKS LIO Smile - hope one of the 2 you are meeting will meet your needs.

Hi Chloe

I have been a doula for 4 years and I now train doulas all over the UK (and still attend births and PN mums). Feel free to CAT me if you want one to one info Smile
It's fab job and there are quite a few mumsnetters who have doulas.

I had a doula for the birth of my DS3. Best £300 I ever spent.

CountessDracula · 04/04/2006 16:26

pupuce, how do you cope with the irregular hours? I mean childcare wise?

pupuce · 05/04/2006 10:10

Supportive husband !
As a postnatal doula you do not have (necessarily) difficult hours. Most birth doulas aim to support 6 women a year (once they realise what it means to be on-call).
