hi i lost my job in early november and im my greif went straight to job centre instead of hitting the phones as im used to {im a hairdresser] we tend to know more about whats going off in salons than j/c
i started receiving contribution based job seekers allowance from 6th december then realsed i was pregnant on 20th dec and in my excitment told j/c this they explained i had to make every futuer employer aware of this fact
strangley enough at this time all offers of work dried up and i started getting letters from j/c regarding why was this vacancy not followed up why did you leave your second to last job how long did you work there for when did you start your last job
this has involved lots of contact with my old employers and them als being made aware of my current status which i find Mortifying im a private person and i hate contacting them
im finding the whole situation stressful and would like some advice please Sad

The job centre are wrong. You do not have to tell future employers you are pregnant, though as an employer myself I would want to know.

Your pregnancy is confidential, your old employers should not need to know about it and I would say the job centre are breaching a confidence.

I would ask to speak to a senior manager and put in a complaint.

Don't know, your ex employer may need to be aware as they may be liable for SMP - although this is only if you were pregnant past a certain number of weeks in their employ. You could check that out with the EOC.

But future employers most certainly do not need to know, the JC are talking bollocks and you should make the EOC aware that they are giving clients bad advice.

If the Job Centre have told your previous employers that you are pregnant (ie disclosed personal information) without your consent, they have breached confidentiality and the data protection act.
You have good grounds for a complaint against them.
You do not have to tell prospective employers that you are pregnant until after, I think, 26 weeks, when you have your MATB1 form. Although your bump may give you away before this!
