Interview for a job I did 6 years ago.....

As the title says I have been short listed for a post I did previously different area same organisation. I left to try different things and moved very slightly up the ladder. However I have never settled or felt as confident in a role as I did in this post, I miss the environment and the sense of belonging. So how can I ensure that the panel see that I genuinely want this - in terms of salary it is slightly less but there are a few more hours which makes it break even.
Any tips... on how I can nail this??

I just went for the same kind of interview last week-it was with an organisation I worked with for 8 years, took vol redundancy after dd was born & now she is 2. They are now looking for kind of entry level staff again and although in my last job for them at a much senior level I had a lot of stress, this role is still responsibility but not management of staff or ownership of strategy or anything like that. I decided to go for it on the basis that it's pt, flexi hours & pension, not in London so lots f pluses on that side so I think maybe you are the same in looking for more of a work/ life balance?

I think you have to talk passionately about the role in the iv- how much you enjoyed it before & what your achievements were & how you feel you can benefit the organisation/ team etc by going back to thy role now. My iv wasn't really like that as it was just all competency based but I was nervous as hell before hand but once I got In there it all came flooding back.

Keeping fingers crossed for you- when is your iv? I am still waiting to hear!

When is your interview?

Interview next week, not sure what's worse fear of the actual interview or fear of not getting the job having already done it for 5 years+!!

Wishing you loads of luck with the interview. I know exactly what you mean about the fear of not getting the job because you did it before. That's spot on to how I felt too & the night before particularly I felt really under pressure. but- I just found out I got the job! Subject to references etc which 2 of are managers from the same company so hope that should be ok. Honestly- I bet when you get there you will have a bit more confidence about you than you think because you know the set up. Thats what I found on the day!

Do you know the office where you have to go for the interview?

Congratulations on your job offer!!

I don't know the area where I have my interview but know people in other areas within the same company as I worked there previously for 6 years.
The actual role hasn't really changed and the jd is the same as when I did the job previously. At the moment I find the hardest thing is thinking of questions to ask them,as I am assuming that they will assume I know pretty all of what goes on. Kinda hard to know how the interview will go for both sides!

Anyway well done, hope you are doing something nice to celebrate.

Suddenly the thought of going back to work seems very scary & real. But I think it's def the right move for me/ us. Also dressing smart again & not just slopping around in jeans & jumper will be great!

Maybe you could ask questions about anything that may have changed since you last did the job so showing your knowledge but giving you an opportunity to ask proper questions if that makes sense? So is there any training you might need to have has the company expanded etc etc - it's trying to show that you are very interested & up to date- apart asking questions you know the answers too as even if you hadn't done the job before I guess the panel would have expected you to have done research so maybe ask a few questions which give you an opportunity to "show off" your knowledge?
