debate with employer- bank hols for PT work

I'm going back to work part time. My boss has asked me to do Fridays & I have chosen Mon & Tue. My copy of our employment handbook says I am entitled to take bank hols if they fall on one of my working days. I also checked with our central hr department & they confirmed this would be at full pay.

Now my boss is quoting something from an employment handbook different to what mine says & saying bank holidays will be pro rata. I assume I will have to top up with my annual leave allowance to get a full day but he has not clarified this.

Can he do this? I'm going to end up using rather a lot of annual leave!

Thoughts please. My boss is a director & difficult to change his mind.

Yes pebblepots they would. The amount would alter each year as Christmas bank hols change day but you are entitled to 60% of all bank holidays as you work 60% of the week.

If you don't work Mondays then you will have a shortfall of bank holidays across the year so should get extra leave or extra pay.

At my work part timers have their pro rata allocation of bank holidays added to A/L and then have to book holiday when a bank holiday falls on a day where they should be in work.

For me I get 5 of the 8 bank hols for working 3 days. Only Christmas day, new years day and Good Friday fall when I should be in work so I have 2 extra days annual leave after allowing for those.

So will I get the same number of days off whether I work a Monday or not, with the only difference being choice of when I take holidays? I am having brain freeze!
