Question for anyone who completes tax return online

For the first time in my life, I've not left a task till the last minute! I had a free day today, so I've completed my self-assessment return online, which was incredibly easy.

My question is this - do I pay what I owe straightaway, or do they send me a paper bill?

Well done! You don't need to pay your bill till 31 January (they must receive the funds by then). They should send you an assessment (a bill) but don't rely on them to do it.

Yes, I'm very proud of myself and having a congratulatory glass of wine Wink. Thanks - I will wait for my bill

Might be an idea to put a note on the calendar in January to pay your bill..you can do it online. Look at your tax calculation online, you may have another payment to make at the end of July, a "payment on account" so be aware of that

Good tip thanks. I have nothing to pay in July, because I'm working as an employee almost full time now, so won't be doing much - if any - SE work. Keeping status though in case circumstances change.
