Bullying in the workplace

Looking for a few wise words to support a friend who has just quit her job because of bullying (by her manager). She reported it to HR numerous times over the years but without a response. She had an ectopic pregnancy earlier this year and was bullied back into work before she was ready. Finally she's snapped and has handed in her notice. She was planning on working out her month but I gently persuaded her to see her GP who has signed her off for at least half of the notice period.

She is, to be kind, very shaky. She's trying to cope with the prospect of facing her employers to try and sort out some kind of a deal to leave quietly rather than take it to court and she's terrified.

Any wise words or organisations I can point her towards to help her out? I don't think she's sleeping, blames herself and I have no clue what she'll do for work soon. All suggestions much appreciated.

is the union involved?

If she's not in a union she's still entitled to bring another person to any meetings for moral support. Would suggest she sees an employment law solicitor, she should be able to get a 30 min free consultation. If you're in Chester area I can recommend one.

How long did she work there?

Thanks guys, I've strongly suggested she see a solicitor and I think she's trying to find one that's not connected with the company she works with.

She's been there maybe 5 years? Certainly more than 3 years.

Her CEO wanted to meet her a few days after she handed in her notice but stipulated she could only bring a member of staff or HR (is that normal?). She was distraught because she felt she couldn't trust either given past history so asked for more time. The CEO's now gone on AL and she's wound up in knots about a meeting. Poor lovely.
