Approx 8-10 slides, all copy and images supplied. I've done it, but it looks like rubbish. Needs some design cool, iyswim!

)))))) Powerpoint(((((((

Tee2072 · 10/09/2012 21:08

You okay there, TP?

TalkinPeace2 · 10/09/2012 21:48

Yup.
I just LOATHE powerpoint - especially zingy ones.
so rarely do I see a presentation that actually ADDS to my notes of what the speaker is saying.

Thelobsterswife · 10/09/2012 21:58

My dream job is sexing up someone else's powerpoint! Out of interest, is that what you are offering or wanting?

MJ2012 · 10/09/2012 21:58

I love powerpoint what are you after? And what version of pp do you have as this will dictate what is possible! When do you need it?

Tee2072 · 11/09/2012 07:01

Ah, now I understand TP. It can be useful, if used correctly. It's rarely used correctly.

carocaro · 12/09/2012 09:19

If you don't have anything postive of helpfull to say why bother? Really, why?

Instead say "power point no good as a better alternative try......." (waits for answers but tumbleweed will appear before any appear)

Thanks to the others, but my other half has found someone to help, who is not a stereotypical cynical diva designer! ;-)

carocaro
My point is that many speeches and ideas are hindered by powerpoint rather than helped by it.
A handout with scribbling space and time for discussions is often better
and there is nothing worse than seeing a slide on the screen and listening to somebody read it
also too many people think that HOW the information glides onto the screen is more important than WHAT the information is.

You need to think about what your audience are expected to get out of your presentation and how they are likely to think about the facts presented rather than just making it shiny and slick.

carocaro · 13/09/2012 21:05

You presume the content is shit to start with. WRONG
You presume the presenter will read it parrot fashion with no personality. WRONG
You presume the audience has not been thought about. WRONG
A handout to scribble on? WRONG

Get much work based on such prejudgement?

WOW what did I do to rattle your cage?

Yes, I've been successfully self employed for 14 years.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 13/09/2012 21:13

Do you want nicely laid out, clear and comprehensible slides with an inoffensive design that doesn't detract from your message or do you want eye-bleeing swivelly shit?

I may be able to help with the former.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 13/09/2012 21:15

Oh, looks like you've found someone. I hope you were polite to them.

carocaro · 13/09/2012 22:41

TINP2 - your two unhelpfull and presumptive posts, just pointing out where you were wrong.

POPG -two great sounding suggestions there, neither of which are any good for my purpose, you might want to think about broadening your offer a bit between 'boring & inoffensive' and 'eye bleeding shit'. Do you know what polite means?

I have found a helpfull designer, who came up with some ideas for powerpoint and alternatives to power point, who was open to to dicussion, not dogmatic, unhellpfull or sneery to my ideas. She is also £500 better off, including some additional work.

Who knew it paid to have an open and collaborative mind? Really, who knew?!?
