Had the world's worst interview...

... last week. I was so awful. I am still cringing and I can't seem to shake it off. The job isn't something that comes up very often and I am so angry with myself for blowing it. Also it's a small world in my industry and word will get out that I was embarrassingly awful. Im so angry with myself.

I just had to tell someone.

:(

What happened? Sad

Might not be as bad as you think?

TellyBug · 09/09/2012 22:24

I didn't answer the questions well AT ALL. I could tell one of them started to feel sorry for me halfway through. The other two stopped taking any notice of me after 5 minutes.

Could you email them and / or ask to be interviewed again? They may look favourably on you if they see that you understood what went wrong....

I'd feel really uncomfy doing that but I feel I should let them know I understand how awful I was! Still feel embarrassed!

Could you ring and ask for feedback? Then use the call to explain to them?

Sorry to hear about your interview. I did exactly the same a few months ago. I was so nervous I messed up even the easy obvious questions. I was physically shaking and was so embarrassed and still even now feel it now.
For the good news, despite me messing it up spectacularly they saw through my nerves and although I didn't get that job, when a similar position appeared 3 months later I took a deep breath, reapplied and started my new position this month.
So chin up and keep going.
One filial thing I was sooo embarassed I actually posted in 'off the beaten track' as I couldn't bear to look at it on the threads but like you had to tell someone. Grin

I did a dreadful interview a few years ago. My brain just froze and I came across as really dim. I still cringe to think about it. Funnily enough a better job came up shortly after which I did get (although it's gone a bit tits up just lately!). I think it happens to us all at some point.

I also remember a crap interview years ago. I got caught in the rain on the way and looked like a waif and stray when I arrived. The interviewer was a complete cow. She asked me a question, I gave an answer. It was obviously the wrong one so she asked it again, in a slightly different way, making it clear she thought I'd misunderstood (which was sort of fair enough) BUT I gave my alternative answer which still wasn't good enough. This question was repeated about 6 times, and each time my answers were getting more ridiculous as I just couldn't grasp what she could possibly mean.

I wish now, that I'd had the courage to say "Look, what exactly are you looking for in response to this question because you've made it patently obvious you think I'm as thick as shit so you may as well tell me so I can cut my losses and escape to the nearest wine bar you utter cow" Grin

I had a really crap second interview once. Lets just say I started talking about lego. But in hindsight, I wasn't suited to the job.
