I've been on maternity leave for a year now. Had DD in August (I'm a teacher so go back to work in sept)

I've been quite ill this year with mental health problems.
I really don't want to go back to work! I've managed to agree with DD to go part time 3 days.

Aw, you'll be fine, honestly. I never wanted to go back after the 6 week break, so it must be tremendously hard after a year away, but once you are in school, you won't have a minute to think of anything else, and you'll be fine. 3 days a week is the best option in the world as far as work / life balance is concerned. You sound like me a few years back. DD was born in the sept and I had a whole year off on ML, I went back 3 days a week and it was hard at first getting her to nursery in time to get to school early enough and teaching when tired because she'd been up in the night.

But, it did get easier and I have been part time now for 6 years. I did a short stint (7 months) of full time recently to cover a maternity leave and that was really tough home-wise so am really looking forward to being part time once again.

I would second what BackforGood says, in that teaching is so full on that once the day starts you wont have time to worry or feel down.

I had PND after dd's birth and it hadn't really gone by the time I went back to work so I can relate to how you may be feeling. I actually found that working and being with adults again really helped with my pnd. Just be strict with yourself about not doing too much school work on your days off and prioritise things at school - only do what is necessary to ensure the children are learning, don't do any unnecessary extras.

Are you going to be jobsharing? If so, divide up as many jobs as possible between the 2 of you, keep in contact via email and remember you are only meant to be doing 60% of the job!
