Hi,

I'm having an argurment with someone.

She says I should thank my boss and be grateful for him agreeing to when I want to take maternity leave.

If I want to take maternity leave from a particular date can be say no?!

I reckon he has no choice but I'd appreciate your opinion.

Thank you :)

You can start ML anytime after 11 weeks prior to your due date. Your choice not your employers and you can return anytime up to a year after you leave. Again your. Hoice, but you have to give your employer notice. I think by 25 weeks to start leave and 8 weeks notice for your return.

There is some flexibility to you starting ml as y may need to start it early for health reasons. But your employer basically has to agre to what you want. Unless they want to end up in court.

Hmm not sure why you feel that he has to agree if he has what's the problem? Confused
However after 29 weeks pregnant yes you can go on leave assuming you have given your matb1 in on time and written to him to say when you want to start your leave. If you want to the change the date you need to give notice (I think it's officially 8 weeks) but in practise as much notice as is possible. So no you can't just waltz in and say 'see ya I'm off'!

He can't say no as long as you've given enough notice and handed in your MAT B1. You decide. Your baby, your health.

Hey, a bit of fake appreciation does no harm. In fact i find it does the male ego a world of good.

Thank you :).
I've shown appreciation but some girl in the office says I should b thankful and grateful that he agreed to my request?!??
(I have followed the correct protocol in giving in the matb1 etc, giving him notice etc).

Is she also grateful that she gets her contracted holiday? Cos that is the law too!
