what would be acceptable pay for

How much do you think you would want to be paid to do home base, no special talent required, fit in around the kids internet work? Now what if that work required only 10-15 minute sessions but had to be done twice or three times a day?
Would that make an hourly rate unfair?

No idea, but is there a job offer here? Wink

seekingsanity · 23/08/2012 12:12

Maybe but i cant create the job(s) without a price

Need a bit more info about the job tbh.

What about an hourly rate, but if its 15 mins of work, paying for a 20 min block, as it takes time to log on, settle, and check what needs doing each time?

Or getting people to record hours (via time on your website?), and pay a higher hourly rate for total time per day?

JarethTheGoblinKing · 23/08/2012 13:05

But would somebody need to be about at set hours, or have a certain period of time between log-ons?

If you're talking minimum wage for 3 x 20 min bursts, minimum wage would be too little. Agree that paying for time used, but at a higher hourly wage would be doable.

Would the sessions be at a set time or could you do them whenevr you want?
It really does depend on what the work is though (is it just something akin to data entry, or something more complex)

Sorry, at work and pondering :)

Nothing difficult and not generating sales leads or trying to sell to your contacts. More like making forum posts and responding to email enquires. You will have information about what to say and won't have to answer anything that requires special knowledge. No set hours the short spaced out sessions are all about people not having to wait too long for a response, so something near the start of the business day and near the end if you choose you can add evening and lunchtime as well. Thanks for the input Smile

I would say between £15-20 a day then.

GodisaDj · 23/08/2012 20:38

Hourly rate perhaps above min wage, but clear that the "hour" is split over a day (ie in their contract of employment under working hours/pattern).

You would also want to measure and check the work is being done in case some people take the biscuit.

If no skills or experience is required, I would be reluctant to pay more than minimum wage - especially as the benefit is that they can work from home as and when (or even from an iPhone ?) as long as the log on X times a day for Y minutes.

Kaloobear · 23/08/2012 20:39

Sounds like an ideal job-can I apply?!

seekingsanity · 24/08/2012 15:43

Thank you. Yes it would have to be very clear that the hour would be spread over the day, but very flexible like you say GodisaDj could even been done while mobile. I think minimum wage is not enough because of this but Jareth's suggestion would make it not doable. I'll keep you in mind Kaloobear Thanks

What sort of work is it? I'm a teacher but want to be at home with DD. My salary barely covers her nursery fees :( I'd love to find work that I could do while she's napping so I could be at home but also not need childcare, or need it but only minimally. Jobs like that are hard to come by!

GodisaDj · 24/08/2012 17:38

I personally think £15-£20 an hour is a lot of money if it requires little 'skill' (i.e. you are telling them what to write) or qualifications. I'm on that sort of money now and I work in a professional capacity (HR Manager)! I would be jumping at doing the job you are talking about if it paid that and with that kind of flexibility! Grin

GnocchiNineDoors · 24/08/2012 17:44

Ill take it Grin unles its the sex industry.

Three fifteen min sessions a day, five days a week? £100 per week?
