Finding work very qualified and frustrated

Hi
Does anyone have any ideas or inspiration to help me?

I have a degree (creative/product design), a PGCE and live with my school age son.
I am moving to South London. I am keen for a fresh start and a new job.

Have been working as a Teaching Assistant for 2 years and am increasingly finding I don't have enough money at all. (Also feel I am in a department which doesn't really utilise TAs in the right way)

I have not been able to find any secure full time job where I could take more responsibility or have more of a challenge.

All I want is an engaging job where I feel needed and motivated which pays my rent and bills and leaves a bit extra over for weekend trips with my little boy and partner.

I think that needs to be about £21000 per annum as am planning on moving in and renting a new flat with my partner.

Is it so normal that it is so difficult to find this kind of work even with qualifications and experience?

I am considering waitressing, admin work, receptionist work, or I would love love love to go and work at an outdoor sports centre.

Supply agencies seem keen for me to sign up with them as a supply teacher which would be great experience but so stressful and financially I would feel insecure.

Thanks for reading. Smile

I don't think you will earn £21k in the jobs that you listed. How about returning to teaching or working as a lecturer at a F.E. College?

Yes I will look into FE that might be a nice change of environment too. Smile

Why don't you look all over the country for qualified teaching posts?

Could your partner move with you?

If you have the pgce you are better using that than the min wage type jobs you have listed.

Oh and I'd stay away from London if you want a decent standard of living- housing costs are too high there.
