Going back to what I did at the start of my career?

I started my career in a civil service job after university & continued to work in the civil service getting promoted each year/ 2 years. Whilst on maternity leave (nearly a year ago) I accepted voluntary redundancy in order to spend a bit more time at home with DD & to allow me to pay off all of our debts.

I am looking to go back to some kind of pt work at the end of the year when DD can start a lovely local nursery for 2 days a week & perhaps spend time with my mum the other day.

Basically the role that I started off working in as a new graduate has now been advertised. In some ways I can see its a step backwards - in terms of pay/ grade but would be good for me in terms of some level of responsibility but not the kind that I had in my last senior management role, good working hours, flexibility, fairly good money & it's also not working in central London which is a bonus for commute.

Has anyone else returned to their old work area/ employer at a lower grade/ level than before & if so how did it go? Does anyone else have any advice?

You will ace the job if you get it so don't fret. I assume you won't be in the same office with staff you were above? Just don't feel pressured to take on more jobs 'because you can do it'.
Seems to tick all your boxes, go for it!

Thanks Camper! It's a possibility I could come into contact with some of the staff I used to work with & perhaps work alongside them- there is also a possibility that some of the managers I worked alongside before who were real PITA could end up managing me but I'd have to be quite unlucky for that to happen. I think I just have a different view about it now- I was so career driven before having DD & think it has changed me but I'm ok with that.
