Reinterview for job

Due to organisational change in my work department everyone of my grade is being reinterviewed. I am not at risk of redundancy. However, I am being asked to attend for interview 2 days before my due date (when I will already be on mat leave). I am worried about being assessed when I am unlikely to be able to perform to the best of my abilities and therefore unlikely to come out of it well and be offered the preferred job roles. Another concern is that I really am not happy with the stress that goes along with interviews so close to my due date. Haven't found any info that helps. I think my employer can ask me to do this but wondering if I have any rights in this instance? Also is it appropriate to be interiewed so close to due date.

That is a truly ridiculous time to want to interview you! It is not at all appropriate -- even if you agree to it, you could be in labour, you could have just given birth, or be really tired and want to stay close to home/hospital just in case, anything! I would write to them to tell them that this date is only two days from your due date and as such is really impractical and ask them to change it. If they refuse, get a letter from your GP to back you up. (And tell him/her how stressful you are finding all this.)

Ask to change it but if you're feeling up to it, just do it.

Friend had to do similar a month or do after she had her baby, while on mat leave. She did great and got the job.

Good luck.

I wouldn't worry that the stress of an interview will cause you to go into labour, if that's your concern.

You can certainly ask for the date to be changed. I'd personally ask to bring it forward and do it before maternity leave if I were you, as I know I'd be in a better state for doing an interview while heavily pregnant than I would with a newborn.
