My SIL has been working as a contractor for the past 5 years for the same company. Basically she has a rolling contract that gets renewed every 12 months.
There has been a big shake up of the team she works in and it looks like they might make her role (she job shares with another woman) redundant.
She's never been that happy there and I think is quite relieved that her hand is being forced and it will give her the impetus to find a job she likes but am I right in thinking that after 4 years, a contractor who has worked for the same company without a break has the same rights as a permanent employee?
If this is the case, could she be entitled to a redundancy payout?
