In sept I'll be going back to work

Mon - DD at childminders
Tues- DD at childminders
Weds- DD at childminders
Thurs and Fri -DD at home with me

Do people think this a good balance? Anyone done similar ?

Perfect balance Smile
I worked 2 1/2 days a week with DS1 but left him at the childminders for 3 days. I did a big shop and chores on the extra half day so my four day 'weekend' was as free as possible. I loved it. I was enthusiastic about going to work and enthusiastic about my time at home. I had a wonderful childminder which meant I didn't worry about my DS while I was at work.
I was a SAHM when my other two DC's came along, which I also enjoyed but that was because I had more going on at home (playgroups, friends etc) with several DC's.

I did 3 days at work and 2 days at home with dd which was brilliant. I'm back to work after dc2 in October but hoping to go back 4 days a week. DH is struggling to get a job as a TA and I can earn nearly as much in 1 day as he can in a week so he'll stay at home until dd goes to school and then try to get a job next year. If he is successful it means ds will have to do 4 days a week in nursery... that is something I'd prefer to avoid but its that or not eat for the coming year (my current salary covers all bills inc mortgage but doesn't extend to a supermarket shop unfortunately...)

I did find that from when I got pregnant with dd I didn't really care about work - I just wanted to be left alone and have my baby and when I went back I was already ttc - and again just wanted to get on with having my next baby so I'm hoping with 4 days a week I will feel more committed to work, and enjoy it again.

3 days is good - your DD will have more time with you than at childcare - worked well for me when I did it
only issue is if your work fits well in 3 days - in my experince a full time job needs quite a bit of rearrangment and reduction to go to 3 days - whereas 4 days is quite doable

Yes, you're really lucky to just work 3 days. Sounds great!
