had to 'draw' on it today - when I was asked to speak to the manager (again) after we'd had training this afternoon.

Once of the few residents in the home who's "all there upstairs" (and a bl**dy two faced cow as well) had accused me of shouting at her, point my finger and intimidating her and this resident is apparently now 'scared' of me. Also apparently the other member of staff I was on with was stood at the door when this happened and "looked shocked" - she was actually other end of the building when this 'incident' was supposed to have happened getting another resident dressed.

I did none of those things - and thanks to my diary was able to say exactly what had happened. I had to go and 'apologise' (not sure what for Shock) with the deputy manager there to 'witness). When and did so and the bloody cow (resident) said

"oh no I know you didn't really mean anything by it". "We have lots of fun together" Shock! "you're on tonight aren't you" (I said yes). " oh that's good - see you then" - with a big smile on her face.

this resident is always complaining about one member of staff or another - but of course she had to pick the time the manager was already 'down' on me to do it. I was accused (by the manager) of abusing this resident (shouting) and that if it got reported to CSCI I could be banned from working with the eldery ever again Shock.

Bl*dy pssed off about it, and really upset too. I LOVE the work I'm doing, but can't enjoy it ATM as I feel every little thing is being made into a massive issue Sad

did she not believe you?

who would have reported it to csci? if it had been the patient, it would have been referred back to the manager, the same would have occurred if it had been a relative and the manager certainly have not reported it directly.

csci will record all complaints made in number form and ask if they have been investigated and the outcome (whether it was a true complaint or not)when they do their inspection - very very rarely, if ever do they ask for the content.

get hold of a copy of the last csci report and have a look - it's a very good source of information - particular the recommendations. If it's not in the office then you can see it online. Though, you should know where it is just in case someone asks you to see it.

have you been given a copy of the social care code of practice to which you have to conform to? this is a csci requirement.

you'd have to be sacked for gross misconduct to not get another job in care.

are you back in tonight?

I don't think she did - but then she didn't seem to believe me last time there were 'issues'.

Apparently the resident and her next of kin were threatening to report me for abuse. I doubt very much whether she would actually have done that though - as she once left this care home "for a better one" (this is a home that has consistenly got excellent inspection reports and one of the most 'sought after' in the area) - 6 months later was on the phone asking to come back (and they let her) but she's been told if she chooses to leave again there won't be a place for her if she wants to come back.

Yes I've been given a copy of the Social Care Code of Practice and I stick to it - less than 2 weeks ago one particular resident was buzzing for silly petty things and driving me up the wall. So when I left her the Xth time - I told the other member of staff to please go next time she buzzed as I didn't want to lose my temper with her.

I'm in tonight - with the same girl who I've been on with both times I've had complaints made against me - I feel terrible for her - she's only been here since January and is still on probation - but she keeps being 'questioned' about stuff - and today was accused of not wanting to "whistle blow" because we're friends Sad

If any complaints of abuse are filed against me I could be banned from working with 'vulnerable' adults under the POVA scheme.

She made me feel like a bl**dy idiot - I told her I was trying to tell her (without her deaf aid in) that I would be with her in 10 minutes time, but that's very hard to do without some finger pointing - ie holding fingers up and pointing at watch.

Just really p*ssed off about it Sad

Sorry didn't get back before you went to work - hope your evening wasn't too bad.

mummy brain hit in and forgot about POVA. But my understanding of POVA is that employers have to add names of employees that have been suspended and under investigation for abuse etc. Names remain only, where the employee does not return to follow through disciplinary action or where it is proved with "reasonable belief" that the action occurred.
