Temporary contracts/secondments and mat leave (nhs)

I'm trying to plan for the future if anyone can help.

I'm currently seconded to a training post. When I qualify I think it quite likely that I will be offered either a secondment to the role (2 bands higher) or more likely, a temporary contract in that role.

A few questions....
If I were to take mat leave from either of these would I be entitled to my occ mat pay at the higher banding rate?

Also, presuming the period of secondment/temp contract finished while I was on mat leave would I actually have a job to go back to? Ie, does the term of the contract 'pause' while you are on mat leave?

I'm more worried about the temp contract possibility as if I was seconded I would always have my original job to fall back on (though at 2 bands lower obvs).

I'm not currently pregnant and defunately won't be until I have completed my training and know the job situation so just trying to understand all the options now.

This is all within the nhs. I went on mat leave whilst seconded to this training post a couple of years ago and while I was away the funding ran out so the training was pulled and I just had my original job to return to, therefore I'm keen not to lose out again.

Hoping someone has some experience of this, sorry for the long post.

The trouble is this is all very specific. You need to check your maternity policy to see what pay rate your occupational mat pay will be based on. Contracts/ secondments don't normally pause for maternity leave, but you'll have to ask about your particular circumstances when the time comes to see whether this is possible or not. I imagine it will largely depend on funding.
