Help with CRB form

I am applying for a job as a TA in a school. I am currently a SAHM and have been for a few years. I have to fill in a CRB check and obviously declare any convictions. I got caught speeding a few years ago but didn't get penalty points or anything as I chose to attend a speed awareness course.
So will this speeding offence be on my criminal record (I have no other convictions) or because I didn't get points does it not get recorded?
I just don't know wether I need to declare it on the form or not, it's all new to me

Thanks

Declare it. I think it will be counted as a conviction because you were formally punished by the course I think.

It shouldn't affect a crb check.

I've had 3 points on my license for speedingBlush (now cleared off) and they have never showed up on any of my (numerous) crb checks.

When I have employed staff the only time I have seen a driving offence mentioned was for someone who had been banned for drink driving. Again a spent conviction that wasn't relevant to the post they applied for.

So I should declare it anyway just to be safe?

I'm sorry I don't know but I wouldn't put it down if I didn't have to as I wouldn't want it to cloud any judgement with the school panel even if it came back not showing anything.

You could call the DVLA, CRB, CAB hotline, police maybe for advice etc.

mmm, I did put it down on one form for another job and didn't get an interview. Don't know if that had anything to do with it or it was because they were looking for someone more experienced. The dilemma is I don't want to put it down if I don't need to as I don't want it to cloud judgement but I also don't want to not put it down then it shows on the check and looks like i'm dishonest.

I doubt that a speeding offence with no point stop anyone shortlisting you for a TA job.
I think that it is better to declare it now rather than potentially look dishonest later on.

Jaffacakeeater · 11/07/2012 22:49

I would declare it but it shouldn't affect anything. I used to work in HR for a residential children's home and we always said that any offence which came up on the check but was undeclared would be considered a breach of trust, regardless of how minor the offence.

No, you don't need to include it.

I have an enhanced CRB. I have had 11 enhanced CRB's now. They aren't on there.

Follyfoot · 11/07/2012 22:51

We undertake several hundred enhanced CRBs each year at work. Speeding offences dont show up on them.

ekidna · 11/07/2012 22:52

ooh I'm sorry I disagree. I'd find out for sure whether you have to put it down.
Panels/HR assistants do judge, and if they don't know like we don't really whether it is important or not they might just put it on the pile and TA jobs are very competitive at the mo. I'm not trying to be negative but have just seen how applications can be discarded on a whim.

ekidna · 11/07/2012 22:54

right with what follyfoot has said I definitely wouldn't put it down especially if there was nothing on my licence. Don't mark MY words though!!

Follyfoot · 11/07/2012 23:05

Whether you declare a speeding awareness course on an application form would be up to you, but you dont need to declare it for an enhanced CRB.

vnmum · 12/07/2012 20:36

ok thanks everyone
