DS2 will be at preschool soon, and I am keen on actually being able to earn something whilst I have no children at home (DS1 about to go to school). I would have about 2.5 hour slots every morning so not enough to actually go anywhere but is there something I can do with a phone and a computer for a total of 12.5 hours a week?!

I don't know of any working from home, but have you thought of merchandising?

I work 11-15 hours per week for a merchandising company - they send me to local high street stores (you don't need previous experience and the hours are very flexible).

The money is not great but it fits in around school hours.

I found my job on the jobcentre website.

Good luck, hope you find something suitable :)

My friend cleans the local pub in between dropping and picking up at pre-school - she gets a tenner an hour so it's good money in that time

This is something i heard the government mention the other week. It was something along the lines of 'three yr olds get funded nursery places so parents wil hav no excuse not to work'. I thought to myself 'what jobs are there available during that nursery time'.
OP it will b hard work finding something suitable but i hope u find something.

Bumping because I am sar here bored in coffee shop spending money waiting for dS2 to finish morning nursery. It's 15 hours a week now isn't it. Technically if dh did the drop off i could work from say 6 am until 11.30 if I could find a job x

I do/did. Various people here work as freelance editors, translators, bookkeepers and proofreaders.

Dogwalking, ironing, gardening, 'home help', deliveries? Not that these helpfully use the computer and phone line you mention...
Or (please) take the time to qualify as a plumber. I could do with one.

I did as a bookkeeper. Now they are older I work during school hours 3 days a week. I was lucky that I didn't have to train as I learned on the job working for family. It is a good job to get as you can earn well (I earn £15 an hour but am near London) and it is flexible (dependant on the company of course).

Have you thought about being a distributor? I can't say who I work for (or that I do) but lots of companies offer low start up, commission based distributor opportunities you could do in coffee mornings while little ones are at pre school. Its also a lot more fun than most jobs!

I also do a direct selling business which fits into short bursts of time! I work in an office 20 hours per week so do it in evenings, weekends and sometimes on my day off. This kind of flexible work could be perfect for you. TBH, I wished I'd started when my boys were younger as I might be doing it as my main job now, instead of the other one!
