How to apply for a Midwifery course and where?

I really need some help in answering my questions please.
I would like to study midwifery, but I have no idea how to go down this route.
I have been a stay at home mum for the last 7 years.
I have GCSES and a GNVQ AND BTEC DIPLOMA, but have no higher qualifications and never went to Uni.
I live in North London and was wondering if I could study in the same area, but I dont know what qualifications i need to study and how I apply for a Uni and what I need.
What questions do Uni's ask when interviewing you and how much the course will cost?
I've tried googling all my questions, but seem to get mixed and different answers and I've just ened up more confused.
Has anyway or is anyone studying Midwifery and how did they get on the course?

I trained as a MW after qualifying & pracising as a Nurse, so a different entry to yours.

Many Universities offer a BSc Midwifery Studies. Have a look at the NMC (Nursing & Midwifery Council) website here They have very good info on finding a course.

An alternative route is to look out for a job as a Maternity Assistant / HCA on the Maternity Unit. I would strongly advise you volunteer or work in the environment before you commit to training as a MW to see if it suits you. Being a MW is much, much more than delivering babies... the hours are long, the demands of the job can be overwhelming. If it suits you, then it can be fantastic.

Good luck :)

I think this answers just about all your questions: nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk/advice/planning/jobprofiles/Pages/midwife.aspx

P.S. I thought I should stress student midwives don't have to pay course fees.
