I was put next to her last year which was a disaster-hard to get any work done but I got moved and things are much better Fab colleagues now and more work focused . Last week the boss was off and she was in charge. There was a task to be done but she would not let me do it. Annoying Anyway On Fri pm she walked around and said "How am I supposed to monitor you when you are so far away?" She did not say anything like that to the other staff Then she said "Have you tidied your drawers?"There had been no prior discussion about this before and I did not like the way she said it and in front of other pepole as well. I just ignored it. I was not particularly worried as I had had a good sort out when I moved desk as we all have to do this in the place we work in I went into a room and told her that I did not like the way she spoke to me etc .No one else is like that to me: in fact I service the whole office and the staff really support me inc the Managers I did not get to the loo //lunch one day till 2pm and she denied this In fact she was unaware which means she is not managing me but picking on me to find any faults she can. Thank goodness I am mostly away from her but it still sucks that she is after me

She does sound like she's on a bit of a power trip.

So when you said you didn't appreciate her tone in dealing with you, she said she didn't realise? And nothing else?

Presumably your boss knows why you asked to be moved. I would document this latest incident factually and let him/her know about it as well. Along with that, I would try and kill her with kindness. Nothing annoys someone with a vendetta against you more than you apparently not noticing.

Keep a log of each incident, with a note of the date, time and any witnesses. Avoid emotive language (most adjectives) and stick to facts, eg: 11:05 14/6/12 I requested cover so I could use the bathroom, thus was denied by Mary. 12:05 14/6/12 I requested cover so i could use the bathroom and asked when i would get my break, request denied and i was told by Mary that "You will get your break when i tell you and not before" Sue and Jean were also present. After a week, show it to your manager and ask for action to be taken and state that should the situation continue, you will raise a formal grievance against the Deputy Supervisor.

And get yourself into the Union!

The annoying thing is that the only witness to the drawer tidying was another lady who is her friend so I doubt i would get anywhere with it. I avoid going passed them if I can but I have to go past them to get to the loo and the kitchen. The other woman is not too bad- basically a nice person and v kind though not overintelligent either- she is more mature and good SOH etc and I stupidly just said Have a nice weekend or something like that.I should not have done that But she would def side with the Deputy as she is an unhappy person and her mate. Kindness Actually on that day I had a load of fruit over so I put them on their desk. To see what happened. The younger one said nothing but the older one said thanks.

I am in the Union and her mismanagement of me came to her head.
The Union made it clear tome that they had misgivings over the Deputy Anyway I was moved possibly as Management did not really want a battle when there wasa simpler solution.I just need to watch my back when the boss is away I think as she will report the smallest thing but yes I will note it and in fairness the Deputy did say to take up any issues with the boss. What worries me is that none of these incidents relate to the actual work itself. There was an important task to be done that was just shoved aside while she continued with her attempts to order me around. In a normal place this would just get done All the other bosses just acknowledge when work has to be done and we get on with it.With her it seems the work is somehow irrelevant Her desire to monitor me is what seems to count. I am not sure what it is that I am supposed to be doing so that she has to monitor me?
Another thing that keeps coming up is an ongoing prob with a tool I use. I have been to IT time after time and they tell me 20% of the staff have this prob yet she brings it up whenever making out it is just me. Funnily enough since I moved it has been better . My work has also been better-when I can do it!!!

Document it. Doesn't matter if/who the witnesses are as long as you keep it factual.

If Older Lady is asked "Did Mary speak to PutThat in a stroppy tone of voice?" she'll probably answer "I don't think she did"

If Older Lady is asked "At 11:05 on 14th June, did Mary deny PutThat permission to use the bathroom" she either has to be honest or outright lie.

Very few people are prepared to tell a bare-faced lie, while most will fudge the truth a bit to protect a mate.
