They're saying it's because they need at least one of us to be full time in order for business continuity.

What I suspect is because she is in my office, and i've made myself a bit too handy at sorting out whatever technical gremlins are plaguing them.

Yes exactly ANT. If you are working with the same duties and job description why do you need longer hours to do them in?

Does the part timer work 3 to 5.15?

PissyDust · 10/06/2012 21:33

Can you be contactable by email, mobile and work from home maybe?

Sephiroth · 10/06/2012 21:35

Part timer leaves bang on 2.45pm, do they have to offer the same to me as they do to her though?

Pissy they have a policy of not being the sole carer of any young children in work hours - the work is actually really flexible can pick up work emails by phone etc

That's interesting actually - if i could provide "cover" rather than working those hours.

Have a good think about it, maybe writing it down. You need to prove the new hours you are requesting are not detrimental to the company.

Another bit of friendly advice is slow down, your posts have been a million a minute and you have come across as a bit flightly n manic Grin

Sorry, i hope you don't take any offence.

no offence taken :) - more thrilled someone answered!

Grin your welcome.

Do you have a HR department attached to work? It may be worth running it ppast them if you think your manager is being unfair.
