Hi, im currently pregnant and have decided after mymaternity leave i really dont want to go back to my current job, its vewry physically demandinding, high risk and stupid hours. Not suitable with a baby. Ive been in a pretty difficult situation over the last few weeks and have decided to move back to my roots, where there is a fantastic college, with a creche. My current job role industry will pay for me to retrain also. I would really like to give something back, as the people that have helped me have been wonderful, from the councillors, midwives, nurses and support workers. They have kept me mentally sane and along with the mumsnetters i feel i have a future now. So its very important for me to do this and give my baby someone to look up to. Im wondering if anyone knows how i can go about getting into nursing/ midwifrey/ maternity and support work (i know a course called maternity and paediatric support work will help with this but it is work based.) i would be really interested. I have little money, and will be council housed so i know it will be hard but i really really would like a plan of action for myself for when bubba arrives to make it a little more simple! Many thanks

Have you had a look at the Nursing and Midwifery Council website Pickles? Your college probably has access courses which are designed to lead on to nursing qualifications as well, do they have a careers / course adviser you could speak to?
