Invited for "tests' for an information and Guidance role. What should I expect?

I have been a sahm for quite a while but have been invited for 'tests' for a part time term time role as an information and guidance officer at a local college.

What would you expect? The tests are from 9 till 1. Will there be an interview too? On another day?

Feeling very out of touch! Thanks in advance for any advice

I was an IAG worker in prison ed for a few years til about 3 years ago.

Are you required to have any qualifications? If so it might be to check you have them or are able to sit them? I had to do a level 4 IAG course, and I had t have a teaching qualification too. Certain levels of literacy and numeracy were expected so they may include these too. Or could be some IAG style question/answer session.

Have they not given any indication at all? Could you call them and ask what the tests will involve and if you need to bring anything with you in preparation?

Thanks hula, I have no quals but happy to take them so literacy and numeracy might be tested.

Could you give me any ideas on what the IAG question/answer session might entail.

There are no indications at all it just says 'relevant to the role'.

They may give you some scenarios and ask how you would help/advise that person? Who would you refer them on to if you couldn't help?

Think about Safeguarding, too. They might test your knowledge on that.

It is a long time for 'tests'. Do you think you might have to give a presentation, or run a mock group session? Or conduct a mock guidance interview? Guidance interviewing is a skill, so I would make it clear that you are willing to work towards a qualification in that field. But think 'active listening', no judgements, let them do the talking, gentle probing.
