Just tried to type all the information around my work issue but it was so long so I'll try and cut it short.

I work as an administrator 2 days a week as part of a job share and also as a HCA 1 day a week on an NHS hospital ward.

Had a risk assessment done in work back in march after a car accident which resulted in neck & back injuries. (have been back since January, but had to nag my manager to get it done)

In the report it was advised that im too tall for the desk and that it is important that it is raised as it will impact on my recovery. The chair I sit on cannot be lowered anymore (thats another issue, when I returned the chair was broken and it took weeks to get a new one)
Other people may use the desk when im not there in the evenings so the risk assessor recommended that a foot stool is supplied so at least they can raise themselves up to the height of the desk where as I cannot lower myself anymore.
As my colleague was away I could work the 3 days at the desk but would need another assessment done when it was time to resume my role as a HCA.

Its now may and my manager is digging her heels in, nothing has been done about the desk. I've been back working as a HCA for 5 weeks now but still no risk assessment. I've been telling my manager that the pain is getting worse in my neck and back for a while now. She has advised that I cannot do overtime (which is right but this proves she has acknowledged the pain im in)
I had to nag my deputy to refer me back to occupational therapy for a risk assessment. I've now been told I cannot be seen until the end of June.

I brought this all up to my manager yesterday, she got pissed off when I mentioned the desk, still going on about other people using the it (although the lady I do a job share with was assessed the same time as me and agreed it should be raised).

Im in work tomorrow as a HCA and I cannot cope with the pain. I've been back to my GP for pain management and im waiting to be seen by an Orthopaedic Consultant.

If I go back off sick it will be counted against me and im heading for a formal warning. I've chased up the appointments, assessments & everything else that I could possibly do but im expected by my manager to just keep on doing the job while she drags her heels in.

Where do I stand with this? It's started to get me down and im coming home in so much pain that its affecting my home life.

Bloody hell this has turned into a long post! Sorry!

I refer you to the "six pack" (google it followed by health and safety). This is the "fun" name for a raft of EU regulations on workplace environment and should give you a clear understanding of your rights. Unison is usually the best website to look at (as they have lots of money and good researchers).
